Hosted by: Margaritaville Lake Conroe/Houston. We were provided with free lodgings and activities in exchange for this post. all opinions are 100% MY OWN.

IT’S TIME TO .. RELAX.

My husband Justin and I are newlyweds still celebrating our marriage. Due to COVID-19, we haven’t did our full honeymoon as planned. However, we still wanted to still celebrate! We booked our trip to Margaritaville Lake Resort at Lake Conroe / Houston.

Below is a breakdown of our trip and things that I recommend!

MARGARITAVILLE, TELL ME MORE.

Margaritaville Lake Conroe / Houston just opened in the summer of 2020! This location brings the spirit of the Islands to the lake! According to their website, “this waterfront paradise will transport you straight to the tropics, with 303 luxury suites, 32 waterfront cottages, and a tempting array of amenities. Whether you’re seeking a romantic retreat, a fun-filled family getaway, or an all-inclusive group destination, we’ve got you covered.” They were absolutely right.

PLANNING A TRIP TO MARGARITAVILLE LAKE CONROE / HOUSTON RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • The Drive:

    • Plan for at least an hour and a half in the car if you are coming from Central Houston.

    • From George Bush Intercontinental Airport, plan for at least an hour drive from the airport.

  • Your Stay:

    • Every room isn’t “standard”, it’s luxury! You can pick from King/Double Queen Bed Suites, Executive Suites, Jimmy Buffett Presidential Suite, or Cottages with or without lofts.

OUR STAY:

My husband and I stayed in a King-Bed Suite. If possible, get it on the highest floor that you can. We had an amazing view of the lake. Through the trip we kept saying how we loved staying in the hotel instead of the cottage. Why? Because we seemed to be in the middle of the action and fun at the resort. We had quick access to the lobby, food (License To Chill Cafe and Bar and Joe Merchant Coffee and Provisions), the pool area, and store. If we were to stay at the cottage, we would have to walk towards the main building to enjoy everything. I do recommend staying at the cottage for an intimate feeling. It would also benefit if you had more than 4 people on the trip.

ACTIVITIES:

There is so much to do at Margaritaville! I’m not going to lie, I was a little overwhelmed because when getting our trip itinerary together, I saw that there was so much to do. Check out the list below!

1) THE POOL:

The pool is one of the main reasons why people come! Unfortunately, the sun did not shine for us until the day we were checking out. We did enjoy putting our feet in the water and having a couple drinks from Joe Merchant Coffee and Provisions while walking around. There is also a bar that you can swim up to when you are swimming. What a dream right? The 5 o’Clock Somewhere Pool pool area consisted of a huge pool with lounge chairs and around, an heated infinity pool, and a hot tub! If you have children, there is a Jolly Mon Water Park to entertain them also which includes a fun splash zone, water slides, and lazy river!

2) THE FOOD:

The food is always going to be the best part of any trip to be honest. Margaritaville provides plenty of options throughout the resort.

JOE MERCHANT’S COFFEE & PROVISIONS:

  • Located near the elevators on the first floor. This is a one stop shop of your food needs. They proudly serve Starbucks which is so cool to me. They also have a grab and go section for different snacks and drinks. What kept us coming back to Joe’s was the pizza. My husband and I ate here not once but twice for a fresh pie and went right to our room and enjoyed it. There are plenty of seats around however, we wanted to relax on the couch. Joe Merchant’s also sells bakery items and ice cream so you are able to fill your sweet tooth throughout the day.

LICENSE TO CHILL CAFE & BAR

  • Located on the second floor near the front lobby towards the back wall. License to Chill Cafe & Bar gives a fancy yet casual feel to your meal. Feel free to dress up or come in your swimwear (but make sure to cover up). They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On Sunday’s they serve brunch and on Friday night’s they have special nights for example, when we went it was Mediterranean Night. Justin and I went here twice. Once for our first night for dinner then for our brunch before we left on Sunday. Remember that this restaurant is open to the public and tables are first-come first-served. The menu has many options for food and drinks to choose from. Below is what we had for dinner then brunch!

    • Carnitas Nachos

    • Perfect Margarita

    • Chill Burger

    • Hangover Cure

    • Caribbean French Toast

    • Breakfast Quesadilla

LANDSHARK BAR & GRILL:

Sunset from our table at Landshark Bar & Grill

  • Located at a stand alone building before the resort building. Landshark Bar & Grill is where the real party is at if you ask me. When we went, there was live music, people dancing, and it was just an amazing time. When we got there we first sat at the bar then we moved to a lakefront view which was AMAZING. It was storming as we arrived however, the sky cleared just in time for the sun to set. Try to go around the sun set if possible. We wish we had another chance to come here. Keep in mind that this restaurant is also open to the public so it’s first-come first-served also. Below is what we ordered:

  • Perfect Margarita

  • 5 O’clock Somewhere

  • Chicken Wings (Buffalo, ordered them fried hard)

  • Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake

OTHER FOOD AREAS:

There is just so many food choices and we didn’t get to try them all. Below are more spots you can find tasty drinks and food:

3) THE SPA

Shameika Smith
  • The St. Somewhere Spa is located at the resort just walking distance from the main building. When you walk in, you are met with peaceful sounds and smells. My husband and I both had wonderful massages here. We both ended up getting the St. Somewhere Signature Massage. As we waited, we were shown around by the staff. The waiting lounges were amazing. They also provided coffee and water. Mimosas were also provided with a $5 charge. The robes were extra comfy and it was just an overall great experience. We left feeling at peace. The Spa also provides services on skin care, body treatment, hair, and nails. An overall experience!

4) CHALKBOARD EVENTS

  • Everyday in the lobby, there is a chalkboard of events that are advertised. They are different everyday. Check them out every morning, you never know, you might find something to do by yourself or with your family.

5) THE FAMOUS FLIP FLOP

  • The first thing that you see when you walk into the lobby is the huge blue flip flop. We made sure to take photos in front of it every day. Make sure to create memories in front of it just like us!

6) GYM & SPORTING AMENITIES:

  • The Fins Up! Fitness Center is a stand alone building in between the St. Somewhere Spa and the conference building. There are racquetball courts, machine room, weight room, equipment room that included yoga mats, box jumps, and exercise balls. There was also a room full of bikes for a cycle class!

  • Located near Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions is an area with couches and fun games such as Connect 4 and Cornhole. Feel free to relax here and enjoy some competition.

  • Check out the Mini Golf area, tennis court, and the Golf Club! So many activities to do.

7) THE LAKE: THE VIEWS AND BOATING

  • Margaritaville sits on Lake Conroe which provides some beautiful views. Take a chance to sit at the dock or if the weather is nice, take part of lake activities such as renting all sorts of water craft – boats, paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats. Check out Einstein’s Surf & Boat Shop for boating rentals. You are able to reserve boats to take on the lake for fun! Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to enjoy any rentals however, we got to sit at the dock and enjoy the water.

It’s Time To Wrap It Up:

Overall, this trip was needed and we are so thankful to have a small getaway less than 2 hours from our doorstep. Margaritaville provided a wonderful experience with many memories to last a lifetime. Even if the weather was not on our side during majority of the trip, we still found peace and fun throughout the weekend.
