Easy "Chipotle" Bowl at Home

You have Chipotle at home, friend.

Are you craving a Chipotle bowl but want to skip the takeout line? Making your own at home is easier than you think—and the best part? You get to customize every bite while keeping complete control over your macros. Whether you’re loading up on lean chicken, juicy steak, or a plant-based protein, this recipe lets you recreate that bold, smoky flavor while knowing precisely what’s in your food. With fresh ingredients, balanced portions, and delicious seasonings, you can build a meal that fits your nutrition goals without sacrificing taste. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients:

  • Protein: Steak (or your protein of choice, I used John Soules Food for convenience)

    • Seasoning:

      • Black Pepper

      • Onion Powder

      • Garlic Powder

      • Chili Powder

      • Smoked Paprika

      • Cumin

  • Base: Minute® Cilantro & Lime Jasmine Rice

  • Toppings: Lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, mozzarella cheese

  • Optional Extras: Nonfat plain Greek yogurt, Herdez® Taqueria Avocado Cilantro Street Sauce, Avocado, Beans, Corn, Salsas

  • Instructions:

  1. Cook the Protein:

    • Season your steak (or chosen protein) with salt, pepper, and any desired seasonings.

    • Heat a pan over medium-high heat with a little oil. Sear the steak for about 3-4 minutes per side (or until cooked to your liking). I also cooked my onions with the steak.

    • Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.

  2. Prepare the Rice:

  3. Chop the Veggies:

    • Dice the tomatoes, onion, and cilantro.

    • Shred or chop the lettuce.

  4. Assemble the Bowl:

    • Start with a base of rice.

    • Add your protein.

    • Top with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and cilantro.

    • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

  5. Add the Finishing Touches:

    • Add a dollop of nonfat plain Greek yogurt as a high-protein sour cream alternative.

    • Drizzle with Herdez® Taqueria Avocado Cilantro Street Sauce for extra flavor.

    • If using beans, corn, or salsa, add them to the bowl.

  6. Enjoy!

    • Mix it all together or keep it layered—however you like it.

    • Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade, macro-friendly Chipotle bowl!
